Death Note

Death Note is a story about a super-intelligent boy called Light Yagami who one day finds a Death Note, a notebook dropped by a shinigami (literally Death God). Light finds out that if you write someone's name in the book, that person will die - and immediately sets out on a crusade to kill dangerous criminals. It's a very interesting subject - I think probably pretty much everyone has at one point or another been thinking about what they would do if it would be possible to kill someone without any fear of being caught. What makes Death Note disturbing thought is the way Light approaches this task - just like everyone has probably thought about what they would do in that situation, most people would choose to kill maybe one or two really awful people, you know Hitler’s and that sort - whereas Light sets out on a killing spree without even once questioning whether he's doing the right thing. For he thinks he's creating a perfect Utopian world with him as God, and believes that he is indeed righteous.
But soon enough Interpol hires another super-intelligent youngster, a mysterious detective called L to find this serial killer media calls Kira derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word killer,. When L starts closing in on Kira, Light soon realizes that he may have to start killing not only criminals but also the police that are after him - and like everything he does he does this in cold-blood and without a hesitation. However for Light to be able to kill with the Death Note he needs to know what a person looks like as well as their real name, and recluse L not only refuses to show his face but also always works under pseudonyms.
Light is unlike any other protagonist I've ever come across. Sure, he's handsome and intelligent - but he's also completely unemotional and psychopathic with literally no redeeming qualities, yet the reader can't totally put him at fault. On the other hand opposite Light is L, another unemotional and psychopathic boy but this one is dedicated to catching Kira and saving lives instead of destroying them. The intellectual sparring between the two main characters is extremely well shown and at times it's so clever takes your breath away - and as you know I'm a total sucker for animes

wishul thinkin

would it be so nice to hear the song "only one" by yellowcard being sung to you? yes, i have imagined it a couple of times ( i think its a million ) if what would i react if somebody would sing that song to me.. i think i could cry (totally!)

yes, it is rock, but the content of the song and how the singer sang it made me feel like i felt it all my life, like i was the one he is pertaining every time it would be played in the radios of each station in the world, that i was the one he wanted to say "you are my only one"

that i was the one he loved

that i am the one he loves

so much for dreaming, sicko. i swear, i totally love that song.. i guess someday my knight will sing it to me, and he wouldn't be afraid to tell the world.. if ever that someday wouldn't come,

maybe in my next life.. =D

another friendship wasted

i just realized that being honest to people is one of the best ways to keep a friendship strong and sturdy. from past experiences, with people whom i considered as friends before, i at times regret that i haven’t been all that honest with them.. maybe that was why they, too, weren’t honest with me. and it usually ended up us being separated. another friendship wasted.
i missed those times we walk together and talk about life. i missed those times we had bonding moments. both of them i missed, but maybe this really is a part of growing up.. letting go of people, learning from them and moving on.it is hard to move on. it is hard to move on without a sister by my side. it is also hard to move on without your long time close living friend. and i missed it. another friendship may be endlessly wasted.

Ashita no watashi no tsukurikata or How to become myself

“How To Become Myself” is an introspective film centered around two main characters who appear to be normal, well adjusted girls on the outside at least. The dilemma’s they face are more internalized, none of which involve the more common teen topics you may think of in teen films (romance, sex, drugs, prostitution, terminal illness). In fact outside of a brief romance shown towards the end of the film, there’s not even a love story angle in the movie (surprised me right there). So what else is there to be shown in “How to Become Myself”? The answer is in the title.

Juri is an attractive high school student. But, she’s not the most popular girl in class, that title belongs to Hinako Hanada, and she’s not the resident outcast, that title belongs Kubota Manami. She empathizes with both of those students, although she hasn’t spoken with either of them. She lives behind her own facade of chirpiness and hipness in front of her classmates, fearful that one day they may discover her ordinary real self. At home, Juri feels like the guardian of their house. Their parents frequently quarrel at night and Juri listens and feels obligated to prevent their fights from getting worse. She believes that by becoming a model daughter this will prevent her family from dissolving. At the end of her middle school she finally speaks with Kubota Manami. Although Manami was the most popular girl at one point, she fell in stature to become the outcast of her classroom. During their brief conversation, the two girls share their feelings of detachment for their fellow students and the games that they play in their everyday lives. Now two years later, Juri is in high school and working on her first novel. She’s at a lost on what to write about, so her instructor advises her to just lie, as that is what writers do when creating fiction. Juri still drawing a blank decides to anonymously email Kubota Manami from her middle school class. Manami has forgotten about Juri but they start exchanging emails on a daily basis. Juri advises Manami on things to do to become popular at her new school, while Juri finds inspiration from the emails to finish her novel. The pacing of “How To Become Myself” is deliberate and unrushed. The movie’s visual are equally subdue, but spiced up by the occasional split screens and on screen graphics. The graphics appeared when the girls exchanged emails, displaying the messages shown on their flipscreen phones. Purists may find the pacing and simple visuals to be appealing but I found it uninspiring. The onscreen graphics and split screens didn’t strike me in either a good or bad way. The manner in which those scenes were shown did bring to mind “Take Care of My Cat,” which I felt made better use of cellphones and had a better story to boot. The soundtrack was two notes away from Muzak territory.

The dilemmas that the girls faced may possibly reverberate with teenage girls, but outside of that group I’m not sure how much the film has to offer. I found the movie to be dull and even more detached from the main characters’ identity problems.

The Secret of Self Confidence

Hey, you, ladies and gents with that pout and glare in the mirror look, come here. I have a secret to tell you.

Self confidence is something that a lot of people struggle with.

The first thing I tell someone who has a low self confidence, is to find one thing you love about yourself and build on that. You have to love you for you. You have to joke about your flaws and know that it is just how you were made. When you can laugh at yourself and love yourself, then you can be on the path to self confidence.

Loving yourself is a hard thing to do. I'm not going to sit here and tell you, "Tomorrow you'll wake up, look in the mirror and be glowing with self confidence cause you told yourself last night "I love me"." Nah. It's not that easy, if it was, you wouldn't be dogging yourself over your dress size, your lack of a boyfriend, or how embarrassed you are of a physical flaw you have. It took me a long time to accept that I couldn't wear a size 5 or a 34C bra size. I couldn't shave my hair off and think really curly thoughts in hopes of curly hair. I had to study really hard to get a college degree to prove to myself that I was smart. I had to learn to ignore rude people's opinions and realize rude people hate themselves for their lack of self confidence.

People, especially ho travel around this site picking on people like me with very vocal opinions, body types that are easy to pick on cause I'm seen as "perfect" or "favorable", or because I suck at grammar, doesn't phase me when they attack me. You have to rise above cattiness and immaturity. I look at them and shake my head at their lack of happiness and how they waste their time. I'm no where near perfect, I will never be perfect. I have flaws just like you, it's how I deal with my flaws that makes me confident.

So, my secret to having self confidence isn't really a secret. It's really you neglecting you. You are self confident, you just have to accept that who you are is what you are. You do have something to offer, one thing to contribute to society. Maybe you're not a supermodel, maybe you're a wonderful friend who is there for others. Maybe you're not smart, but you know how to be respectful of others. Maybe you hate that you have to wear glasses, but your eye color is goregous and unique. Look outside the box for the positive and then build on what else you are positive about.

Better yet, make a list of all the positive things you can do and what you like about yourself physically. When your positive list out numbers your negative list and you're proud of that, rejoice in that. Why spend all your life being unhappy? Nobody wants to be with someone who isn't happy in their skin.

If you've ever seen the television show Ugly Betty, you know that Betty is not Heidi Klum or Eva Longoria. But the people around her love her because Betty loves herself. When you love yourself people are drawn to you like a bug to a bug zapper.

You just have to ask yourself are you ready to love you for you and not worry about what others think?

You might not realize how self confident you are until you realize how many blessings in your life you have.

My Sassy Girl (English version)- a Terrible Remark

On a whim, I decided to rent the U.S. remake of the hit Korean flick "My Sassy Girl." About 20 minutes into the movie, I was so completely disgusted with the movie that I just had to stop watching. The acting was so painfully shitty and the plot was so horribly screwed up that I couldn't bear to watch. The pinnacle of destructive love stories was completely annihilated by this abomination of a movie. I could hardly keep myself from throwing up in my mouth.

A few notable things that annoy me about bad movies (which characteristic of this movie as well)

1) I hate actors who try so damn hard to enunciate. I know they teach you to enunciate in speech class. But this is NOT speech class kids. This is a movie... and movies are supposed to sound natural.
2) I hate actors who seem to be reading directly from a script. This is not dictation. This is speaking.
3) I hate actors who overdo facial expressions. This is not miming. This is acting.

Particulars about this movie that I hated:

1) That had to be the absolute worst justification for "blind dating" arranged by a relative. In Asia, it makes sense, but not in the American context.
2) The girl was too overtly drunk.
3) She was not treating the guy badly enough.
4) The guy was overly rejecting her when he was supposed to be passive.
5) There was no undertone of wanting or needing to "live" more in the original movie, and why should there be?
6) All the funny scenes where taken out.
7) She was the one who was supposed to be in charge, not him.
8) The girl was not mean enough.
9) He was not supposed to have a roommate.
10) He was supposed to take her to a hotel and put her to bed.
11) The movie was not supposed to key on her breaking up, but rather, on taking away her pain.
12) The guy looked too preppy.

These were just the things I picked up on in the first 20 minutes before I was so disgusted that I had to stop watching. Ohhhhhh, this totally ruined my entire night. I'm so mad

09/11 attack

PH2006033000779

I feel as if people don't think about this day as they should. It's almost like people have moved on, they've gotten over it. It's a day everyone will remember, sure, but is it a day people really sit and think about when this time of the year rolls around? I don't think many people really get how many other people suffer on this day. So many people died... so many people suffered. I remember going into the city after it happened when i was in high school. Every time i watched tv. Millions of people all over the walls, the streets, light posts, news paper stands, the list goes on and on. My son is missing, my daughter, mother, father, sister, brother, friend, lover. It was unbelievable. I wish everyone was able to go to ground zero after the attacks because I really think it would put September 11th in a whole new perspective for them. It's not to say that nobody understands what 9/11 was about or how it made people feel, I'm just talking about the people that forget this day ever happened. The people who will go to work or class tomorrow and completely forget today was 9/11 and go on with their lives, forgetting how many people suffered and still suffer. I know most people aren't like that, however I can name many, many people who are.

The Missing

If you are one of those people who tend to forget and maybe sometimes don't understand the full effect of what 9/11 did to people, this post is for you.

And all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Rest In Peace.

10 more days

Sept 10, 2008! weee.... 10 more days and I'm turning 19. It means I’m not a baby anymore for my family and friends who kid me always coz they always think that I’m still a baby. Anyways, as I contemplate the past event of my light brings back some memories uninvited. Dreams that forever remains unreachable. Dreams that still live up this day, Dreams that have made me, Dreams that are making me, and Dreams that will make me. As a cuddly three- years old, I was among those children who wished upon a star. So to speak, I was one of those children who believe in fairy god mother and Santa Claus. As I grow up, the fancy idea of them become a childhood thing.
I can still remember the time when a long cherish dream was shattered into pieces. Life has its own share of surprises. We sometimes caught in the most unexpected circumstances. I was in the middle of my life when the worst nightmare roused me in my sleep. The fate has left me an indelible mask that the mere thought of it will cause me to clinch my fist. Having believed the true essence of love and forgiveness. Before my 19th birthday. I was able to let go of the pain and struggle to move on. I have wished to sing the merriest tune and I did. The peace that I have long been dreaming was the best gift that I will always come to know, finally peace and harmony will be foster and dwell in my heart forever…
Looking back at the series of pitiful and setbacks in my life, only a simple girlish grin would melt anyone who would dare me challenge once more. I have always been optimistic that on the other tip of dark tunnel lies a lighted path.

ADVANCE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

Can a person love more than one person at the same time? Why or why not?

Oh yea. But I can imagine it would be very complex and very difficult. But of course they can. It's one of the reasons why when you are with someone, you don't allow yourself to get involved with someone else you feel attracted to. Mixed feelings and emotions get carried away, and you lock yourself in a really nasty position. You can not only hurt others by allowing yourself to be in such a situation, but you're also hurting yourself and cheating yourself.

I highly recommend, if you find yourself in a situation like that, you think things over really fast, and decide what is better for yourself and the other two, because ultimately things are only going to get ugly if you don't. You can only be with one person. It's pointless to allow yourself to be in love with two at once.

* i was bored again and have nothing much to do so i decided to answer this question that i saw in one of a website that i am surfing right now...

Trust

Everybody knows what trust is. It's what keeps everyone in this world together, like tolerance and honesty. Not to forget, trust can be anybody's risk.

It's not unusual that trusting people can sometimes be hard for anybody.

It's sad.. How when you rely on one person to do a part of a task, and they never actually manage to do it. That just sucks.

Do I know anybody I could trust? I sure do... but they're friends that I haven't known of properly. Although I haven't known them for even a year, it makes me happy how they trust me as much as I trust them. That's one positive feeling you get from friends.

Hotel Accommodation

Since I was young, I’ve been dreaming of traveling abroad.

http://www.visitlondon.com/

London is one of my favorite cities to visit someday. London is a huge city with several district articles containing sightseeing, restaurant, nightlife and accommodation listings. London hosts an outstanding collection of world-class museums. Even better, it is the only one of the traditional "alpha world cities” in which the majority of the museums have no entrance charges, thus allowing visitors to make multiple visits with ease. One of my favorite landmarks in London is The Palace of Westminster. It is an important locality in the centre of Greater London, and a city in its own right. Westminster has been the seat of royal, and later parliamentary, government and power for 900 years. Here are some photos of The Palace of Westminster.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/wallyg/301405502/

London has hundreds of options for accommodation from hostels through historic bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and apartments to five star hotels. Your budget will have a lot to do with what part of London you will want to stay in. Prices range. Here are some lists of hotels in London http://www.hotelscombined.com/City/London.htm .

Aside from London, Paris is also one of my favorite city. Paris' museums and monuments are among its highest-esteemed attractions; tourism has motivated both the city and national governments to create new ones. The city's most prized museum, the Louvre, welcomes over 8 million visitors a year, being by far the world's most visited art museum. The city's cathedrals are another main attraction. Of course The Eiffel Tower, by far Paris' most famous monument. If you’re planning to visit Paris and you want a hotel with good rate and good standard check this site where you can find bests hotels in Paris. http://www.hotelscombined.com/City/Paris.htm

Loved to travel? Looking for a website where you can find list of hotel to stay in for few days and nights. http://www.hotelscombined.com is a website that can help you find best hotel that suits your taste and with a lowest rate.
